Temples and Courthouses

There were some memorable events of the week....We went to an open house of the Draper, Utah temple, and then Micah went to it's dedication. It was particularly neat for him as his ancestor, Ebenezer Brown, settled the area. My in-laws can correct me, but I read that the town was originally called Brownsville. The name was later changed to honor the town's first bishop, William Draper. Unfortunately I had to work that day, so Eden had a babysitter, and Micah said he had a good time. On last Sunday we went on a walk to the Provo temple grounds, hence the picture below.
My own memorable experience of the week was JURY DUTY! I've been on call for 3 months and this was my 3rd letter of invitation to join a jury. And lucky me, I was selected. I don't mean to sound grumpy about it though. I'm grateful our judicial system can allow for a jury and that I can assist our government in upholding the constitution. My journey began at the court house at 8:30 am, and ended at 11:30 pm. Lawyers would nit pick on the tiniest details, there was lots of "he said this" "she did that" from the witnesses blowing things out of proportion, and I was grateful for the judge that kept order and protocol on track. Out of the ordeal, I did get Brick Oven pizza which is delicious! There were six of us on the jury, we unanimously found the defendant guilty. Although I feel I made the right decision, my mind floats back over the case frequently each day. The life of a judge is not for me!

Oh, boo. That stinks. Jury duty (I hear) is a total bummer. The temples are great though!

I bet it was nice to have such uplifting these to balance out the jury duty. Also, I am proud of you for not complaining about it. Not many people can do that. I'm glad you are my friend and such a wonderful example!

I hope you're off the hook now with jury duty. Sheesh. THREE months, give me a break!

That's so neat Micah was able to go to the dedication. And I like how you look on the bright side about jury duty. :)
