I've decided that Micah has some of the coolest homework assignments EVER! His assignments help foster creativity, set goals and visions, heighten ambition and confidence, and conjure alternative ways of doing things. I don't want you to think it's ALL a walk in the woods for him, it is college; but, I love some of the homework he's assigned. One of them was to create a list of significant medias. Not wanting to feel left out, I did it to! I hope you don't mind me sharing, and I hope you may want to share too!
Significant media-not necessarily favorites, but significant
BOOKS
1) Chronicles of Narnia-helped me feel something when I was feeling little
2) The Great Brain books-started me reading
3) The Giver-one of the few that I remember the entire book
4) Harry Potter-who could ever put that one down?
5) Redwalls-the first 6, then they got repetitiously redundant. It started my love of
fantasy
6) Eragon 1 and 2-the first books Micah and I read together
7) Jayne Eyre-I actually enjoyed the minuet details in this one
8) The Hot Zone-My first queezy intense book!
Music
1) Les Meserables-spent many a days acting and singing with my sisters
2) Billy Joel-my inspiration while I played soccer
3) Newsie soundtrack-If you can resist singing while this is playing, I'd like to meet you.
4) Josh Groban-has rocked me to sleep many a nights
5) Celine Dion-has kept me awake a many days while driving
6) Frank Sinatra-he fits any mood you may feel, big band in general is great for weekends.
7) David Archuleta-I wouldn't ever choose to take the cd out of my car, but Micah actually does get tired of it.
TV shows
1) Kids say the darnedest Things-Entertained by kids for an hour? Heck yes!
2) Quantum Leap-”Oh Boy”
3) Sabrina-when TGIF used to be good on ABC
4) Growing Pains-my welcome home show while eating Mom's cookie
5) Lost-a new found passion, I've got 6 seasons to catch up on!
6) Stargate SG1-replaced our TGIF tradition!
7) Pushing Daises-the narrator cracks me up!
MOVIES
1) Enchanted-a movies gotta be good when you feel like singing and dancing when it's over
2) Pride and Prejudice-The new one, how they ever condensed 6 hours without making me feel like I've missed anything is a mystery to me.
3) Sound of Music-pretty much anything with Julie Andrews in it, but I hear Toothfairy was a flop.
4) Corrina Corrina-so it didn't make the 'classics' list, but it does a great job sucking you into their world, but not toooo much.
5) Chronicles of Narnia, because it was a favorite book-and they made it JUST as I had imagined!
6) Jurassic Park-The first scarey movie I have recollection of being truly scared in...I remember being scared in coma but, I haven't seen that in over a decade
7) Mulan-This was a frequent Sunday movie for Michelle and I, for while we scrap booked.

The Great Brain Books are awesome!
Pushing Daisies, just finished the first season again.
LOST, my heart is on that island.
I'm pretty sure I would've rocked this class.
Well done! I give your assignment an "A+"! I also loved the post about Eden's birthday. And now, since we got together at Christmas, I can hear in my head exactly how she would say "happy biday Ede"! Glad to have you back around! Are you not working as much lately?
Talk about taking a trip down memory lane for ME!!!! What a grand trip it has been! I think I might work on some of my own media ideas.
Your list is positively SPLENDID!!! I can actually hear you explain each of them. : ) I might actually make this list. What fun!
Too fun! So many books and movies and so little time...how can that be???
Love you!
Reeba!!!
Okay, I have to just mention the bonds we have in each category! BOOKS: The Giver - the only book I remember reading in highschool, and I LOVE it! MUSIC: Can't go wrong with Billy Joel! TV SHOWS: Good Ole' Pushing Daisies! MOVIES: Enchanted...I was totally singing that song "How Does She Know" over and over again after the movie. See you in just a couple weeks!
What a lot of thought you put into this post. I loved reading your list. You done good.
